If you can, please join us this week in recruiting opposition to building a nuclear weapons "pit" factory in Los Alamos

Dear friends --

A few of us were able to speak at the Santa Fe City Council this past Wednesday. Thank you, those who came! We have been following up with the City and will continue to do so. 

In honor of the nuclear victims of 1945, and to prevent other victims, we are making a big push this week to recruit additional supporters to the Call for Sanity, Not Nuclear Production. A handful of volunteers are meeting in Santa Fe and Albuquerque this week to follow up on prospects. Memorials and commemorations are fine as far as they go, but they don't go far enough for the already-inspired and already-committed, especially when you've got a multi-billion-dollar nuclear weapons factory under construction in your neighborhood. 

People don't realize how effective opposition has been. In New Mexico, it's been very effective, derailing plans for warheads requiring new pits (as the labs wrote in 2012) -- until recently. Santa Fe and northern New Mexico can again strike a real blow for peace, if we speak up!

Even more efficiently, if you know of businesses, organizations, religious communities, or individuals you want to reach out to yourself, please do! 

Each germ of resistance can spark others. But it's not strictly a matter of numbers. Truth is powerful. It is the "power of the powerless," as Vaclav Havel put it.
